AWS AI certification options

AWS now offers four AI certifications, from the entry-level AI Practitioner to the Generative AI Developer - Professional. None has a formal prerequisite, but the recommended experience climbs fast.

  • AI Practitioner (AIF-C01): For people who use AI on AWS but do not build it, with up to 6 months of AI exposure suggested. Pass mark: 700 out of 1,000.
  • AI Business Strategist (beta): For product managers, sellers and consultants. No coding is needed, and about 6 months working alongside AI projects is recommended. Earn it by February 15, 2027 for an early adopter badge.
  • Machine Learning Engineer - Associate: English candidates now take the MLA-C02 beta, which adds generative AI, RAG and agentic AI. AWS recommends at least 1 year with SageMaker AI, Bedrock and related services. The standard MLA-C02 is due in early 2027.
  • Generative AI Developer - Professional (AIP-C01): The top AWS AI exam, with a pass mark of 750. AWS recommends 2+ years building production apps plus 1 year of hands-on generative AI work.

Azure AI certification options after the 2026 changes

The current Azure AI certification path is AI-901 for fundamentals, AI-103 for AI apps and agents, AI-200 for AI cloud developers and AI-300 for machine learning operations. Microsoft retired the older training courses and pointed each one to these new tracks.

  • AI-901, Azure AI Fundamentals: More hands-on than the name suggests. Expect Python syntax, Azure resources, and REST APIs or SDKs.
  • AI-103, Azure AI Apps and Agents Developer Associate: For Azure AI engineers who build agents with Microsoft Foundry. Generative AI and agentic solutions carry the most weight (30-35%). In November 2026, its exam page still showed a beta label and English only.
  • AI-200, Azure AI Cloud Developer Associate: For back-end developers. It covers containers, Azure data services, vector databases, Python and monitoring.
  • AI-300: For MLOps and GenAIOps engineers. It leads to the Machine Learning Operations Engineer Associate.

AI-200 is the natural next step if you had planned to take AZ-204. Our AI-200 Azure AI Cloud Developer training is built around that exam.

Google Cloud AI certification options

Google Cloud has two AI certifications worth your time: Generative AI Leader for non-technical roles and Professional Machine Learning Engineer for builders. Neither has a formal prerequisite, and both run online or at a test center.

  • Generative AI Leader: $99, 90 minutes, 50-60 multiple choice questions. Open to any job role, with or without tech experience, and valid for 3 years.
  • Professional Machine Learning Engineer: $200, 2 hours, 50-60 multiple choice questions, valid for 2 years. Google recommends 3+ years of industry experience, including at least 1 year on Google Cloud. The exam now reflects the move from Vertex AI to Gemini Enterprise Agent Platform, so older study material may be stale.

Claude certification: four exams for partner staff only

There are four Claude certifications, and only employees of Claude Partner Network organizations can book them. You must register with a company email on your employer's partner record, be 18 or older, and show a government ID. Individuals, customers and non-partners cannot register.

  • Claude Certified Associate ($99): For consultants, sellers and delivery leads.
  • Claude Certified Developer - Foundations ($125): For engineers who build with the Claude API, Claude Code and MCP.
  • Claude Certified Architect - Foundations ($125): For solution architects who design and build agent systems.
  • Claude Certified Architect - Professional ($175): For integration architecture, governance and evaluation at large-enterprise scale.

All four share one format: 120 minutes, multiple choice and scenario-based multiple response questions, and a pass mark of 720 on a 100 to 1,000 scale. Pearson delivers them online or at a test center, closed book, in English or Japanese. Each is valid for 12 months, and there is no formal prerequisite, so you can sit Professional without Foundations.

If you qualify, our Claude Certified Developer training and Claude Certified Architect training cover the developer and architect tracks. Not at a partner? Free Claude Academy courses give a certificate of completion, which is not a certification.
