What is SAFe® POPM training?

SAFe® POPM training is a two-day course that teaches you to perform the Product Owner or Product Manager role on an Agile Release Train (ART) as it delivers value in Planning Intervals (PIs), and prepares you for the SAFe POPM certification exam.

You learn to apply Lean thinking to break epics into features and stories, refine features and stories, manage ART and team backlogs, and plan and run iterations and PIs. You also see how the continuous delivery pipeline and DevOps culture drive continuous improvement of the ART.

How long is the SAFe® Product Owner/Product Manager (POPM) course, and when does it start?

The course runs for 16 hours of live, instructor-led online training across 8 sessions. Weekend and weekday batches are available, and the next batch starts on Monday, October 26, 2026.

Are there any prerequisites for SAFe POPM training?

There are no formal prerequisites. It helps if you have been part of an Agile Release Train (ART) and taken part in PI Planning before you take the exam.

What is the SAFe POPM exam format?

The SAFe POPM exam is an online test with 45 multiple-choice questions. You have 90 minutes to finish and need at least 80% (36 of 45) to pass and earn the certification.

Can I earn PDUs and SEUs from SAFe POPM training?

Yes. After the course, you may be eligible to claim Professional Development Units (PDUs) with the Project Management Institute (PMI) for PMP, PgMP and PMI-ACP, and Scrum Education Units (SEUs) with Scrum Alliance.

Is the SAFe POPM exam fee included in the course fee?

Yes. The exam fee is included in the course fee, along with the official course materials and one year of SAFe Studio access. CertOcean delivers this course with a Scaled Agile partner.

Which version of SAFe is current?

Scaled Agile no longer uses version numbers for SAFe. SAFe 6.0 (2023) was the last numbered version; since then, SAFe courses have been updated as "AI-Empowered" releases. CertOcean's training follows the current SAFe course content.

Can I join the SAFe POPM training on my phone or tablet?

No. Please join the training on a laptop or desktop computer.

Will I get a certificate after the SAFe® Product Owner/Product Manager (POPM) training?

Yes. You receive a CertOcean certificate of completion when you finish the training. The official Scaled Agile (SAFe) certification is awarded by Scaled Agile (SAFe) when you pass the exam, and this course prepares you for it.
