The Claude Certified Developer exam is for engineers at Claude Partner Network organizations who build with the Claude API, Claude Code and MCP. It fits software engineers, AI engineers, backend developers, solutions engineers and technical consultants. There is no formal prerequisite exam, but basic Python or TypeScript and some experience with web APIs will help you get the most from the course.
The CCDV-F exam is a closed book, scenario-based test, so you need hands-on Claude experience to reach the passing score of 720 on a 100 to 1,000 scale. You get 120 minutes for multiple choice and scenario-based multiple response questions. Notes, documentation, AI assistants and browser translation are not allowed.
The Claude developer certification is worth it if you work at a Claude partner and build with Claude, because it gives you a formal way to show you can take an integration from the first API call to a production agent. If your employer is not a partner, the course still builds Claude skills, but you will not be able to book the exam.
No, the CCDV-F exam is open only to employees of Claude Partner Network organizations. You register with a company email on a domain listed on your organization's partner record, personal emails are rejected, and you must be 18 or older with a government ID. Individuals, customers and non-partners are pointed to free Claude Academy courses with a certificate of completion instead. Partner Network membership is free for organizations.
Partner employees register for the CCDV-F exam through the Partner Academy using their company email. Pearson proctors it online through OnVUE or at a Pearson test center, in English or Japanese. You get 120 minutes of testing time, so plan about 135 minutes in total. The list price is US$125, and some partner tiers get a discount.
The Claude Certified Developer certification is valid for 12 months from the date you earn it. Renewing on time is a free, non-proctored assessment on the Partner Academy, but if it lapses you must retake the full exam at the full fee. After a failed attempt you wait 14 days, then 30, then 90, with at most 4 attempts in any rolling 12 months. Each retake costs the full fee.
