CompTIA PenTest+ Certification Training (PT0-003)

The course runs for 40 hours of live, instructor-led online training across 15 sessions. Weekend and weekday batches are available, and the next batch starts on Saturday, October 31, 2026.

Penetration testing is an authorized, simulated attack on a computer system, network or application. Security professionals use it to find and exploit vulnerabilities before real attackers do, then report how to fix them.

A penetration test usually follows these steps: planning and scoping, reconnaissance, discovery and enumeration, vulnerability analysis, exploitation, post-exploitation, and reporting with remediation advice.

PenTest+ is harder than CompTIA Security+ because it tests hands-on offensive skills in performance-based questions. If you already hold Security+ or CySA+, you will find it easier to prepare.

There are no required prerequisites. CompTIA recommends 3 to 4 years of hands-on experience in a penetration testing role, and Network+ and Security+ or equivalent knowledge.

The exam voucher costs US$439 in the US, and prices differ by country. You take the exam through Pearson VUE, online with a remote proctor or at a test center. It has up to 90 questions, lasts 165 minutes, and the passing score is 750 on a scale of 100 to 900.

PenTest+ is valid for three years. You renew it by earning 60 continuing education units (CEUs) through qualifying activities, or by passing the latest version of the exam or a higher-level CompTIA certification.
