Disadvantages of AI and ML

1.      One of the major disadvantages of is that it is extremely expensive. Depending on what exactly one needs AI to do, the cost changes and it still remains unaffordable to the larger portion of the society.

2.      Another big disadvantage of AI is that it lacks the human ability to use emotions and creativity in decision-making. The lack of creativity means AI can’t create new solutions to problems or excel in any overly artistic field.

3.      It’s knowledge and skills will degrade with time and may become unusable if not updated properly with time. AI itself can become outdated if not trained to learn and regularly evaluated by human data scientists.

4.      One of the prime drawbacks of machine learning is that it requires a lot of data to process and learn from it. Initially, a huge amount of time is invested in making machine programs, and the requirement of data is also very huge. Therefore, long codes and programs are needed to make the machine learn initial responses and essential functions.

5.      It is still in its development stage and prone to many errors. The results might be satisfactory, but a completely automated system requires a lot of research and analysis. Scientists and programmers are continuously trying to figure out more advanced techniques for improving machine outputs.

6.      In machine learning, it is nearly impossible to identify multiple choices. As the machine is only made to identify certain choices, specify the options based on human behaviour or vary widely. The machine is made to choose mostly the correct decisions, but there could be situations where a machine cannot make optimal decisions.
